Competition 2. Phase

Task: “The MA 68 intends to erect a new building that will accomodate the main fire station on the site of Engerthstraße 216 in Vienna´s second district. A large part of the existing building will be removed and replaced. “

Solution: Untangling and providing a clear organization (despite the multiple layers and overlaps) of the individual functions and building elements. The administrative staff and the wild boys from the fire department meet at the cafeteria on the adjacent terrace for coffee and cake.

Excerpt from the jury´s report:

“A clearly structured building on the side of Kafkastraße, a clear architectural and urban planning response, the proposed comb-shape building form prevents long circulation spaces and provides good exposure to natural light. A calm and restrained architectural expression.“
